Got cancelled flights? Here are your rights as passengers
As Tropical Storm “Enteng” (international name: Yagi) caused flight cancellations today, some of us are uncertain about what will happen to our canceled bookings. Here are your rights as a passenger if your flights get cancelled, according to the Air Passenger Bill of Rights or the Joint DOTC-DTI Admin. Order No. 01.
- For cancellations of least 24 hours before the estimated time of departure (ETD), attributable to the air carrier, the passengers have the right
- to be notified beforehand that their flight has been cancelled, and
- to be rebooked or reimbursed.
- For cancellations less than 24 hours before ETD, attributable to the air carrier, the passengers have the right
- to be notified beforehand that their flight has been cancelled,
- provided with amenities (food, drinks, hotel accommodations, etc.),
- to be reimbursed the value of the fare, taxes and surcharges, and other optional fees, and
- to be able to rebook the ticket without additional charges.
- For cancellations due to other causes, i.e. force majeure, safety and/or security reasons, the passengers have the right
- to be reimbursed the full value of the fare.
